New Engine Pic!
I finally got around to getting some new engine shots. I took this before hood install 'cause it looks better!!
Still gotta get front bumper on and figure out how to get it all under the hood, but here's roughly the new look with the TTII's etc.
Matching Numbers all Original!!!

Thanks...I like the "nothing around the engine" look.
They are MSD 8.8's.

Super fine & clean ride Jim! What carb you running on the top there? Something like a 1050? And can I suppose there is a hood that fits over the whole thing? I'd like to see it(on the car) if you have pics.
(Edit)Opps!! Missed the line about trying to figure out how it is going to fit under the hood. Guessing that's what happens when I see a nice vette.

Re: New Engine Pic! (bgrice)
The stock 427 Stinger hood goes on fine right now, with actually a little more clearance than I had with old intake...had to do a little work to pull THAT off. But I have a huge 16" K&N air filter assy that I am determined to get in there and it lacks about a 1/2" or so closing with it installed. Plus I really want to get a 1" spacer under the carb too! So I will most likely being doing a little hood surgery. But it will have to be real subtle..it has to look relatively stock on the outside! But I do have a couple of more ideas...I'm not throwing in the towel yet on leaving the hood stock!
For right now, it can cruise around with the stock 427 Stinger hood scoop and no spacer. But I have to use my "less than optimum" Moroso flat pan and air filter assy until I get it all done. May be a winter project!

Re: New Engine Pic! (Let 'er eat!)
That's beautiful!
Is it difficult having a carb without a choke? How long does it take to get warm enough to drive.
The reason I'm asking is because I am havin g a carb built without a choke, and I'm getting a little nervous.
Thanks,
~Jay

Looking good Jim! Nice, clean, and organized. Still running points? :D
Looks like bigger rubber out back too. Nice!
Driving 800+ around on the grass? Did you suck any birds into that monster carb?

Very nice Jim, I have the same valve covers hanging in my garage, won't clear the brake booster yet.

Re: New Engine Pic! (Flareside)
Thanks guys!
It's a "homebuilt" 1050 annular Dominator. I added a P/V to it and lots of other little things to make it streetable.
Choke?? C'mon...I live in Houston!! Seriously, I've never used a choke on any of my Hotrods no matter where I lived...even Denver. It's no big deal....don't need ot be reving it much until it warms up anyway.
The new rear skins are 275/60's. Fills the fenders a little better. Not much traction though!
Yeah, I still have the points. I did clean 'em some though!! Maybe I still need to buy a new set huh? They're only 5 years old! Maybe I can talk my wife into a new MSD dist. for our anniversary in Sept.?? It's the only occasion I have coming up!!

Wow, Jim. That is "drop-dead" gorgeous!! :) Puts my new looking engine compartment to shame.
Good luck with the hood modifications to get your carb spacer on. I have faith in your fab skills. :D
As far as the post regarding running around with a carb w/out a choke... I live in N. Dallas and haven't had a choke on my car since I bought it last Nov. No issues. Fires right up with a couple of pumps of the accelerator and then I let it idle for about a minute before driving away. No big deal. :) Much better than having the choke tower restricting airflow...at least that's how I look at it.
