Default Just finished installing TRW glass rear leaf (from Van Steel)

When I got it, was surprised to see "TRW now made by Muskegon Brake" and VS was cheaper than MB?

Anyway, it would have been a lot easier if it wasn't for the 31 year old bolts, cotter pins and steel leaf spring!

I had to hack saw one of the spring bolts off! I had to use three wrenches as a 4 foot "breaker bar" for the bolts to the differential housing (no I didn't break anything!).

Getting the old spring out was the real pain. Once I did that, everything went AOK.

Took a short (1/4 mi) ride, and it is *way* smoother. It does sit a little higher, but it looks fine to me. I didn't get a change to change the shocks out yet (currently NAPA from 1980 I think) because it was about to storm and I didn't want to mess with that... I'll do that some other time this week.

Total time: 4.25 hours (including a short trip to Sears for a 13/16 wrench (I swore I had one, but I guess not), a quick meal and moving stuff around the garage.

Thanks to VS for the good deal on the spring!

340lb. On my very short ride, it was significantly smoother. I haven't had a chance yet to put it through the paces (weather and other problems with the vette). For what I do (just cruise trying to look cool), it will be very nice.

I just finished installing the 360lb glass spring from Van Steel. It isn't the TRW design. I thought the ride would be very stiff, but I swear it is a better ride than the old 9leaf. It is the first time I tried to hit the bumps in the road.
