Default Started out as a cam swap here the "While I'm at it" list

Started out as a simple cam swap, my 270H to 282S, here the "While I'm at it" list.

1) Cam and lifters
2) Harland Sharp aluminum roller rockers( couple more HP while I'm in there ?)
3) Victor Junior intake( can't have a high revving cam without the intake )
4) Moroso 7qt side kickout oil pan ( why not ?)
5) Carter high flow mechanical fuel pump (couldn't hurt )
6) Cloyes double roller timing set ( must have )
7) Stewart Stage II aluminum water pump ( heck I got the old one off now)
8) Earl's fuel filter
9) March underdrive pulley set ( hey they're shiny)
10) Cloyes 2 piece aluminum timing chain cover

And I only have the rad out right now,so I'm sure there is going to be more. :D

You're right, you may as well change all that now than decide a month from now to change the pan, then the pump. It's better all at once that piece meal. :yesnod:

What no aluminum timing cover?

The roller rockers might require guide plates and hardened pushrods. If yur heads still have pressed in rocker studs, the will have to come off and go to the machine shop to be drilled and tapped for screw in studs to accept guide plates. What heads do you have now? If they come off I can think of a few more "while yur at it's". Hmm some porting and polishing maybe? I ported and polished mine myself. Its time consuming but not difficult or expensive if you do it yourself. Whats the casting # on yur current heads?

oops ..just saw yur sig and I see you have the sportsman II heads....duh

Default Re: Started out as a cam swap here the "While I'm at it" list (1970 Stingray)

1970 Stingray - Thanks for reminding me I knew I forgot something, I have a Cloyes aluminum timing chain cover for it

I have Sportsman II heads that already have the recommended springs installed with guide plates and hardened pushrods, but thanks for the heads up.
I do plan on getting them ported but not untill the go on the 400 stroker.

foundvettelifeisgood - March pulley set is #5070 specifically made for Corvettes..

gdh - Lost interest in the nitrous install and sold it besides I want to make HP the old fashioned way

Drat! I was planning a cam swap myself and thought MAYBE of getting the radiatior rodded "while I was at it". I already have the Stewart Stage II, but since I'll HAVE to do the rest of that stuff, I'll have to wait until the mortgage is paid off to afford it! :jester
