No oil to the left bank!!!
We just tested our oil pump (by spinning it with a drill), and oil only comes up through the right bank. Where do I begin searching for the problem? This sucks. :(
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi
I remember reading that you cannot pressurize the left bank unless you have the distributor in place as this forms part of the oil gallery to that bank.

Did you get oil out of all 8 pushrods on the right bank? Seems I got oil out of most of one side before I started to get oil out of the other. I am assuming you are priming the oil pump and eng.

There are two types of primers out there. Oil pump primers and oil SYSTEM primers. The system primers have a little collar on them that mimics the distributor and pressurizes the entire system.
If your primer looks like the ones pictured on the right it won't oil the entire system.

Ok, I feel a lot better now. Thanks for the help, guys. The local performance shop is getting the oil system primer tomorrow, so I'll be able to do that. In the mean time I think we are going to drop the engine in.
 Thanks again!

Don't forget to turn the crank 90 degrees at a time as you prime with the proper tool.
This positions the lifters in the bores so they can pick up oil. If you don't turn the crank you won't get oil to all the rocker arms. LOL
