Theres a place here in Memphis near downtown that has a lot of them for sale, they rebuild them and carry the parts.I'm not sure if they have any 40s models but they would be the best source of real life info on them.I'm not near a phone book right now or I'd post the number, but e mail me and remind if you are interested and Ill send it then.

Really need to know how to get parts because my friends and I just bought a 43 GMC Flatbed one for like 350 bux, split 4ways. We may need some part's for it if we can't fix/modernize some of it. Can't find any resources on the net about them, so any info would help a bunch.

A good friend of mine has a 1946 ****** CJ-2A, so he has lots of Jeep info, but no 2.5 ton stuff. Sorry...

I use to give them away to fire departments when I worked at the forestry. Most of the are 6 wheel drive, straight six, and very simple to work on. GMC, Rio's, and IH made alot of them. I'm sure there are part houses and surplus parts everywhere. Knowing the goverment, we still have parts sitting in warehouses.

Buddy's right, there are probably hundreds of complete engines scattered all over the United States in National Guard and Army Reserve wharehouses. About 30 years ago I was serving some time in the National Guard with a transportation unit. We were driving fairly modern multifuel duece and a halfs, and 5 ton trucks. One day I was looking for something in a big quonset hut that we had for storage, I found 10 complete truck engines in crates. The funny thing about it was that they all had manufacture dates in 1943 and 1944. As far as I know we didn't have a single truck in the battalion that used that engine.
A year or so later we were converted to armor, all the stuff was shipped off someplace. We were driving M48 tanks instead of 2-1/2 trucks. The M48 were antiques but I was really surprised they didn't send a bunch of Sherman tank parts to us.

Smokehouse, I use to get air tight crates with 350's that had makings from korea and vietnam. These motors were cool with braided spark plug lines and all. We would also get small trailers of just wrenches or sockets. I even received gas power drills one time.
