Default Tranni help

I just pulled the numbers off my transmission and i need to know if i can cross-check them to identify where the tranni came from and wheather it was an OEM corvette trans or not.

Does anyone know of a source for running numbers ?

Thanks,

On my '77...

H7E01D would be

H -- Turbo Hydramatic (P for the 4-Speed)
7 -- 1977
E -- May
01 -- 1st
D -- Day shift (designated on autos only)

That's out of the "Chevrolet 1977 Corvette Specifications" booklet I got FREE from Chevrolet by calling 800-222-1020 and telling them my VIN. They provide a nice package.

Hope this helps some.
