Name Me This Body Kit
I just bought this 69 Vette and It has some sort of body kit on it and I was wondering if you guys could identify it for me. The owner said it was an Eckler's kit from the 70's. This car has been sitting ever since then unfinished. TIA

Looks like someone went through a major project to give it a Mako Shark look? Not a bad looking car in my opinion, should be a real attention getter when finished.

Re: Name Me This Body Kit (Wicked_SS)
I've seen a few like this -- I think it was call Can Am or something close to that -- its not unusual to see Vette with these wide body kits with 6 tail-lights. Most of the time those - these are on rubber bumper cars.
Are you thinking about or already did buy it?
I'd like to find some thing like that - if cheap enough - to put a set of wheel flares on -- like I saw a guy here on the forum did --- rolling thunder was it?

Just another Corvette guy
Re: Name Me This Body Kit (evilsmf)
Yeah, that was a kit available in the 70's from a company called "It's just wrong inc." when they quit making body kits for Corvettes they invested heavily in AMC stock and backed the Pacer as a sure winner for the future. The former company CEO now works at the carwash in Long Beach vacuuming cars. Just bad luck I guess.

Re: Name Me This Body Kit (Greg)
It's a Can-Am / IMSA body kit. They were semi-common and made by many different companies. They were made for Corvettes, Monzas, and a few other cars. If done right, I think they look nice. That is, if it was a full race replica of the actual race cars.

Wayne: Like you, I have a 74 " mine is more semi pro tourer" and was a construction worker for many years. I would like some info on your headlights and your brake improvements. I hate the vac headlights and will install the hydraboost soon. Please send me an E mail or instant message. Yours wasn't listed?

Yes, I just picked it up today. I sent a pic in an email to Ecklers to see if it was one of theirs so we'lkl se if they reply. There is no motor or trans, but the interior is very nice and not a spec of rust. Oh ya, it only has 23k on the car. Havn't decided if I want to finish it or just sell it. We'll see.

Looks like it's in good shape. Take a pic with the top off. IMO you should leave the head lights the way they are and I think it will look great after you finish it. Keep us posted. How many bones did that set you back?

Re: Name Me This Body Kit (81' Corvette Guy)
Here is what Eckler's told me --"It appears to have the original GM Can Am Series side fenders and quarters. They are what Ralph used to make Ecklers Can Am stuff but reduced the width by two inches. They were made of white gel coat glass. "
A freind of mine has a 69 crashed Vette that has a good 350/300 and trans so it looks like I'll be trowing that setup in the car. I am leaning twords selling it after I get that work done. I've never adventured into the fiberlass work that this need to finish.
