slight popping noise from exhaust
My small block recently started a slight popping noise from exhaust upon cold accelleration would go away when warmed up. Now it seems to keep popping through exhaust even when warmed up at accelleration. Any ideas what to check first. Thanks

change the spark plugs......maybe excess resistance in the plugs causing crossfire under dist cap. The crossfire happens when the charge cant make thru a bad plug...instead it finds the next easiest path to ground which is jumping posts under the cap. when this happens it fire the another cylinder out of time...if anothe rcylinder fires when the exhaust valve is open it will ignite the unburnt fumes in the exhaust and make that popping sound.
