For those of you with Demon carbs.........
I just ordered a Speed Demon 750 with mechanical secondaries and no choke. This is what Lars and several other people recommended to me. It will be going on my 525hp 383 from AR Racing. So you guys who already have Demons, what do think of them and do have any tips on running them? I also ordered the book "How to Tune and Win with Demon Carburetors" also so that I can get it pretty well setup before I dyno tune it

You did order a fuel log to go with it correct? The reason I ask is I learned the hard way it takes a special fuel log, a Holley log will not work.
I haven't fired up mine yet but the people I know who has a Demon love them.

I have the impression that demon carbs are only for higher HP cars is this true? I tend to see them on such cars and was just curious as to whether it's true or not...

I really like my Speed Demon 650. It was pretty much tuned straight out of the box just some minor tweaks and it has performed flawlessly....Much more responsive than the edelbrock or quadrajet or holley that I was running

i know Alwyn and some others will disagree with me ;) but Demon carbs in my opinion are terrible. just my .02 and my personal experience with demons. :mad

I you are not running a electric fuel pump you can use the same setup I made for mine. I am using a holley mechanical fuel pump.
I have no problems with this setup.

I gotta agree... I'll take a Holley HP series carb over a Demon any day of the week.

I have had a Holley and now have a Demon. The holley makes a nice work bench ornament. Barry Grant takes the design of the fairly good holley carb and makes many refinements in their workmanship over holley.
But hey, somebody has to like holleys. For those who prefer holleys over demons I am sure there is a holley employee or two thanking you right now. :)
As for Demons being more for race, not true. Like I said, IMO demons are better built and are more tuner friendly with features like 4 corner idle circuit screws and float level sight glasses.

Mine was rich out of the box. I now have 76/81 jets 6.5 power valve. Idle was rich so I drilled an 1/8th inch hole in each primary throttle blade. I drilled out the squirters for a bigger faster shot.
Look back a week or two I posted some pictures of my fuel log from Earls with all 8-AN fittings.

IMO BG carbs are much higher quality & better designed than comparable Holleys.

Love both my Demons.
I'm running an 825 RS on my big block Oldsmobile (this one is actually a BG Gold Claw - predicesor to the demon) and a 650 Mech. Secondary Demon on my ZZ4 in my 76'. Both ran great right out of the box. I'm still working on fine tuning the one on my ZZ4, just put it on a few months ago. The idle circuit is too rich for a street car - bad gas mileage when running at idle and cruise, but it does make nice horsepower. I gained 5 mph in the 1/4 mile, when I swapped from my 750 Double Pumper Holley to it. Hey, and it drives better too :). Currenlty I'm running 72/83 jets in mine.
