Sears Floor Jack under $25
Went to Sears yesterday and picked up an on-sale 2-1/4 ton floor jack with two jack stands for $24.99 (half off normal price of just the jack.) There are more expensive ones that may have a bell and whistle or two, but I thought this was a good deal in case anyone else is looking for one.

I have been eyeing those myself. I already have the jack stands....do you recall what the floor jack alone was $? Have you used it yet?

I got one of those (with the jack stands) a couple of months back. Works great. The only complaint that I have is there is no carrying handle on the jack and no side clip for the lift handle. Would recommend the purchase to anyone looking for a no frills jack.

they got those on sale around here too, but its like $99. My old floorjack commited suicide, so i was shopping for a new one. I saw those on sale, but i already have more jack stands than i really want (i give them away). I tried to convince the sears staff to just sell me the jack for that price, i convinced the 18 year old workers, but the manager stepped in and shot me down. So i had to pay $110 for just the jack.
Oh well...it was still a fun argument.

I basically live at Sears Hardware stores and I've never seen the jack sold by itself. I've been using mine and works perfect every time. The small size works great to support work in progress (always with stands) without getting in the way.

Guys I never recommend the 2 1/4 ton or 2 1/2 ton jacks. Compared to the 3 ton they are 1/3 to 1/2 the size. I have a 2 1/4 ton, 2 1/2 ton and 2 3 ton jacks in the shop and only use the smaller jacks as supports to steady something, never to jack the car. If you intend to work on cars invest in 2 3 ton jacks, work safe. And yes I have over 12 jack stands but prefer to double or triple jack a job.
Buy a good 3 ton jack for around $99 CDN , take care of them and they last a life time.
Some of my tools are over 35 years old, still clean and painted and work.
Invest in good jacks and it might save your life.
Leave the small jacks at the store.

Wait a minute RJ - are you saying you paid $110 for just the jack, when you could have bought the jack and stands for $99?????? I understand you don't want any more stands, but geez, you could have just left them on the sidewalk or dropped them off at Goodwill and pocketed the $11!
