Default Mallory Dual Point Distributor

I recently bought a used tach drive, dual point distributor, I say used but there isn't a mark on it. On closer inspection today I noticed that one of the sets of points isnt connected to anthing. Both sets of points have a brown wire that connects to the ballast resistor then to the coil.
Shoulw both wires be connected? i would think they both would, any help would be appreciated.

cheers
Nick

More than likely someone unhooked one of the sets of points to make setting the dwell easier. Both sets of points should be connected by a jumper wire and naturally the - side of the coil. I take it you mean the brown wire is attached to a condenser which is correct.....
