my trusty jumper wire works again.
I have a jumper wire with a blade fuse socket in it with 2 male spade connectors on each end. I used it before I replaced my headlight swith to make my dash lights work. OK so they were on whenever the ignition was on, but it was better than not having any.
My newest temporary application is for my headlights. Recently they've started not working unless I play with the dimmer switch. I bought a new dimmer switch. I searched the archives and found a post that indicated that just plugging the new switch in and manually clicking it should make all the lights work. Well, after plugging in the new switch NONE of them work, glad I didn't mount it. I tried making sure the switch was grounded too but it didn't seem to make a difference. If I could figure out which setting on my new $2.99 multimeter was for continuity, I'd test it, but I'm not entirely sure which one it is.
So, back to the jumper: I put one end in the power socket of the plug and tried the other end in either 2 remaining sockets. One lit the low beams only, the other lit all four lamps on high. I left it in the low beam side until I get a new switch. The one I got from Autozone was an open box return, they said I could return it if it didn't work and they marked the box. You'd figure that they would test these things somehow before they resold them :mad
