Default Oil pressure sensor won't fit!

I have a Performer RPM manifold and I bought an AC Delco oil pressure sensor but it won't fit. The manifold is in the way so it doesn't have enough room to screw into the block.

What do other RMP users do?

Thanks,
Jerry

In 74 when GM went to the non mechanical oil pressure guage, they mounted the sending unit above the oil filter. If you look you will find a plug in the side of the block above the filter housing.

That's what I thought, but when I spin the oil pump oil comes out of the hole next to the distributor but not the hole above the filter. What gives? Should I plug the hole? And if so, what do I use?

Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry,

What year block do you have in your vette? My '74 block had the outlet above the oil filter... the '72 block I now have appears to have the outlet, but it is solid as a rock and not threaded. I had the same problems with my Team-G intake and had to adapt to the oil sensor on the back of the block by the distributor. One straight up pipe... an elbow(45 degree).... then attached the oil sensor. I just brought my sensor and the plug that was in the block and went to Lowes and pulled open many a tray of fittings until I found the one's that work.

Use a brass adaptor. The 45 degree unit is still available from GM for a couple of dollars.

Mine has the 45 degree elbow. That probably what you need. A full service parts store should have pull out drawers with those in there. Heck..maybe even a hardwarw store or even Home Depot. just standard size pipe threads I believe.

It's 1/8" NPT,and I got my 90 degree fitting at Lowes for less than a buck.
