Who was the guy here that had his car stolen last year?
I think it was a silver '73 in Wa. He had it parked outside a muffler shop on a Sunday night so they could work on it in the morning.
Was it Pedro?

They have to come put it together first.
Once they are done, and have it running, then I will fire the first shot.

That's for cars insured by Hagerty right, I would imagine that our cars are so far down the list on cars stolen by any make or model they are not even mentioned.
I don't think our cars are very high on a professional theifs shopping list, not worth a lot, very easily identifiable and I wouldn't want to try starting mine in the middle of the night without waking someone up

Agree with the others, even my relatively quiet C3 is loud enough to wake the whole damn house up.

Re: Hagerty says old vettes are the #1 stolen car (Pacin'California)
No one would dare attempt to steal a car in my neighborhood. I have great *nosey* neighbors that even wrote down the liscense plate of one of my co-workers who stopped by at lunch to see if I was at home while I was on vacation. He stayed too long in my driveway and when I got home there was a note on my door with the description of the van, color and liscense #. Hagerty has more things to worry about.

They are just like any other insurance company. Publish data showing twenty five year or older cars being stolen at such a high rate, they just have to raise rates. Insurance is one of the biggest scams of all time, right up there with the " energy shortage " here in Cali.

Some states allow you to be self insured. If your state does, and you think insurance is such a scam, you could try going that route.
BTW, it has been a few years since I lived in a state that would allow you to be self insured (NH). Maybe the rules have changed.

CA allows self-insurance. It only costs $35,000. You can give the DMV $35,000 and they'll hold it for you until you get in an accident. That's much less of a scam than insurance....
There is another clause that has to do with owning a bunch of cars, and making a ridiculous amount of money ($100,000+, as I recall), which allows you to not hand over the $35,000 right away.

thats another reason why i replace the fuel pump relay (electric fuel pump of course) with a toggle switch then hide the switch under my dash.
Equally effective is wiring up a ignition cut-off switch and putting it under the dash.
Personally i use both on my classic cars. They can brake in...they can rip the interior up....but they're just going to keep cranking...

i use 12 position rotary switches. if they find all of them will they ever guess to right combination?
