My pillar posts are pretty good with the exception of the ends where the T-Tops have constantly rubbed them. There, they are frayed, missing vinyl / plastic and don't know if this method would or could fix them. What do you think? Any suggestions?

These were in fairly rough shape and if you look close you can see where they was patched up.
If you say so. I didn't see any signs of patching, maybe I'm blind. By the way, thanks a bunch for doing this, you've inspired me to try and fix a bunch of similar issues with my old vinyl pieces...
