What is the fastest you have gone in your or someone elses Vette
Only about 110 for me, didn't seem like a good idea to go any faster :crazy: :steering:

130 on the track in my car.
140 + ( I couldn't see the speedo ) in someone elses 73 on the same track.

103.9 mph as measured by track.... probably means actual speed was 105 ish?? :) I have gone faster in my lexus es300... MJ

I've been to just under 130 MPH in my vette (Not bad for an L-48.) but the fastest I've ever been was in a 1989 IROC-Z Camaro I used to own with the 5.7 tuned port injection. I had that car's speedometer pegged at the 145 MPH mark. :cool: I don't do these speeds on public roads however. :nono:

Redline in 4th gear. All the literature says this speed is 127 for my 79, but wind and temps can have a big effect on top speed. And with a speedometer that isn't dead-on accurate, I don't know the exact speed.

Seems when I was younger I'd tip 140 quite a bit,but now that I've got the Vette,there's less opportunity than there used to be.More people on the road,plus I may have matured slightly,and don't take as many risks as I used to.When I had the 85 mph speedometer I had to do the math and use the tach for guesstimates on top end.Run it to 5500 rpms a few times with the 355.The 406 has seen 6500 in second,but I back off when it shifts into drive because the speedometer is swinging real fast and the car that was way way off in the distance in front of me is now in danger of a serious rear end collision.
I try not to top end anymore,the car is about handling anyway.Flat cornering at 60-70 on back roads is way more fun than a white knuckle ride at 140 mph in a straight line.The new 140 speedometer is a temptation however!

My bro and I redlined OD in his vette. We were popping off the rev limiter which is around 160mph. All on a race track.......

Years back(1977 to be exact)....
I took my '73 L-48 vert on a strip of road in south Wyoming headed towards Rawlins, Wyo. You could see for miles & miles as flat as it was and I got it to around 135mph and finally shut it down as it was shaking way too much for me. Amazing how slow you feel you are going at 80mph after that.:cheers:
