air conditioner blower impeller in 1976
I have heard that changing the blower impeller to a later model will increase the air blowing from the air cond. ducts. Which one should I use and how do I install it.

Both the motor and impeller have improved. You could get the motor
and use the old impeller. Take out the old one (may have to loosen
the coolant tank) attach the impeller to the new motor (you will need
some square lugs to attach the wires with) and install the motor.
You could use the new motor and new impeller, but you will need
a spacer about 1" thick because the impeller is longer. Make your
spacer and follow the rest...
I've made a spacer and tried to put the motor in. It's fun, I had to
separate the impeller from the motor, put the impeller in and then
maneuver the motor in place.
Good luck.

Re: air conditioner blower impeller in 1976 (adam)
i used a 7'' stove -pipe--CAP -i bought it at menards for 3 or 4 dollars. its 2'' deep----7'' in diameter . i took my tin snips and trimmed off 1/2''-making it 1-1/2''- the exact difference between the old smaller impeller and the newer deeper impeller. i used a vaccume line and slit it length wise to make a gasket-- took the new fan and traced the outline on the top of the stove cap----then cut that out with the tin snips- then painted the cap black-used 2'' long screws and the result was a factory look!-- it improved the air flow by maby25%-30%- i bought it from carquest--BRAVO BLOWER MOTOR-came with the deeper impeller--for around $35.00
