Re: pictures of c3s from ncrs national!!!!! (Mystery Machine)
For starters, I screwed up the best picture!!!
They had a special L-88 display with five (count em!) FIVE 1969 L88s in a row with hood up. So I take the pic and it's all blurry!!!! :mad
Some other pics came out a little better....
nice wheels in the parking lot
An astronaut vette!! :)
The only 68 to be found anywhere!!
A 69 L88 for flight judging
Ed's Duntov in the dark garage....
another shot of the only 68.... also in the dark garage.

Yep... you fubared the L-88 pic. What's the deal with the copper colored '68 427 vette with the designer black rear clip? Oh well... I guess everyone to their own.

Never knew that Eddie. Apologies to our astronauts.
No apologies needed!! I had a very brief WTF?? moment when I saw it too.... but then I remembered the astronaut vettes. It was actually my favorite car there! To be quite honest, a clean factory correct specimen is a beautiful thing, but they become almost commonplace after a while. You would not believe the SEA of pristine 67 bigblocks on the showfield! :) The astronaut vette was supposedly (according to the owner who has all the documents and vin #s and has tried unsuccessfully to track down other similar vettes) the only surviving of 7 similarly equipped vettes that were provided to the astronauts by GM. His was owned by the #4 guy to step on the moon.. (Of course, here on corvetteforum there are people that think nobody actually stepped on the moon! )
Anyway, I love a corvette that is historically significant and is also in great shape. Of course, for NCRS purposes he lost points for the paint job... but don't worry, he is not going to change it! :) MJ
and boy, do my pics suck! :(

Yes, the gorgeous Bronze '68 was too my favorite. Wish I could've seen under the hood---I believe it also was a 350hp L79 with A/C!!!
On the L-88s, two were owned by one person, the Orange one and the White one with an automatic. He told me the White one is quicker than the four speed one!!! Only 16 were built with an automatic

Look at the gloss on those cars. Nice!
I have seen a lot of rare Vettes, but I have never seen one of the astronaut 69s. :(

I saw the one of the auto L-88's at Corvette Mike's in Anaheim. It was parked at Petersons in L.A. a few years ago. I immediatly recognized it.
I think they wanted a buttload of money for it
