What kind of adhesive for front clip replacement ?
I am in the process of replacing the front clip on my '76. What type of adhesive is used to re-attach the clip to the car, and where can it be purchased ? BTW I am in Houston, TX. Thanks in advance.

I buy my adhesive at a local parts store (Robbins - private chain).

A "clip" is the entire front end of the car minus the hood. It's the fenders, front surround and the piece at the rear that connects the fenders and runs along the windshield wiper trough. Look at some of the suppliers sites and you'll see what I mean.

Re: What kind of adhesive for front clip replacement ? (rebuild)
You almost HAVE to do it with it on the frame.
Use the radiator support and frame extension to hold and align the front.
Do the dry fits like said above - and don't use too much hardener.
It sux when the adhesive sets before it's fully in place.
Drill and use a few sheetmetal screws to hold it in alignment and guide the final placement.
I also used a heavy ziplock freezer bag filled - like a cake decorator.
You can squeeze the adhesive into all the exposed seams to fill voids after
it's in place.
Best to do with the engine out.

Re: What kind of adhesive for front clip replacement ? (NHvette)
Begining in 1973 GM changed the material they made body panels to S.M.C aka sheet molded compound. I think if you read the label of Evercoat #870 they reccomend a different part number for bonding SMC panels. Being that you are working on a 75 clip, you should use an adhesive the is designed for SMC panels. You can buy it from most autobody supply stores, just look in their Evercoat catalog for the right stuff.
Dry fit the clip!!!!
Good luck

82 was the first year of SMC pressed panels - and all C4s.
The 870 adhesive should be good for original panels up to '81.
Replacement parts may be SMC - so I would consult the manufacturer on something new.

Look in 'General Vette Info'.
