Default Electrical help please

Changed accellerator cable last night worls great. Now for some reason when I put the car in reverse it kills. Like turning off key. Lights don't go out or even dim when this happens. Have 69 4 speed. Any ideas. All was working ok before. Coincidence or what.

You should take a close look at the area near the coil. Both the cable and the reverse lockout lever are in that area. Something may be shorting on the coil wiring.
