Re: 83 Vette? (AGVI)
No.
And I say we should all send e-mails to him asking for proof that it is a 1983. His email is on the same page.
I did.

Quote "To my knowledge, this is one of only two known 1983 Corvettes in the world, the other is a factory made and is in the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky."
Sounds convincing enough for me - not! :skep:

Re: 83 Vette?
I sent an e-mail kindly describing that 1982 Corvettes were in fact sold up to, and through February 1983. If he wants to say his 1982 Corvette was one in the line that got sold in early '83, that's one thing. I said that I bet the VIN declared the car as an '82 model however.

Re: 83 Vette? (1969Vette350)
i suppose its possible but very highly unlikely that GM would give out one of their 83's. also wouldn't the 83 be more like a c4? considering that 83 was their date to release the c4 but they fell behind, u would think it would be an unfinished c4 rather than a modified 82.

I am curious to hear what he says about our e-mail inquiry

He states...
"To my knowledge, this is one of only two known 1983 Corvettes in the world, the other is a factory made and is in the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky."
So maybe the idea that it is a custom car, with a VIN generated in 1983 is the right idea.
BTW, here's the one factory '83 at the museum...
And here's the half of an '83 that used to be on the entrance to the BG factory...

Is this guy for real? ......
The NCM car must therefore be a "late" 1983 model, as it looks like the 1984 Corvette.
I wouldn't waste my time or effort, however, the car should bring top dollar on ebay. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Perhaps we are all wrong, and its the first C6. :)

Re: 83 Vette? (BSeery)
But you know, his ploy kinda works. Anyone that knows vettes knows it isn't an '83. but most people that don't know vettes, woudln't know there were 2 vettes in '83 and this isn't one of them. they would then as easily buy that car as any other
oh wait it's not for sale, doh. oh well

here is what i sent the guy
now lets see if he replies, its gonna be so funny if its a forum member.
Hi I would like to see your evidence or proof for your car being a 1983 model. The first thing that tells me that you are a fraud is that there were 40 83 corvettes and only one remains. The second thing is that your car is an 80-82 body style while the 83 corvettes were test vehicles that looked like the 84 versions. Then there are other things such as how you have a greenwood bodykit and a twin turbo hood. If this car actually was a 1983, which it isnt, nobody would be stupid enough to add an ugly body kit to it.

CFOT Attention Whore
Re: 83 Vette? (AGVI)
either the guy just made a legitimate mistake based on faulty information or he's a total bonehead.
1) ALL production of c-3 body corvettes shut down in august (i believe, but maybe as late as september) 1982 for model change over.
2) approximately 50 1983 corvettes were 'VINed' as MY83, they were pilot cars of the then new c-4 generation corvette.
3) of the ~50 cars ( i've heard the actual number was 47 or 49 or...) ZERO were sold to the public. all but the one in the museum were used for testing and subsequently 'scrapped'. i use the word 'scrapped' because as in the case of the ONE '83 corvette known to be in private hands, it sustained significant damage and went to a junkyard. it was supposed to have been shreaded but a private individual purchased the carcass and repaired it.
there are similar stories about '88 and '89 ZR-1s just in case people are interested.
anyway, THAT '83 was a c-4 pilot car just like the one in the museum.
therefore, no matter which way you slice it, the car dudeski is showing "ain't no '83!"
