Who's got 17" x 9-1/2" on the front?
Who's running 17" x 9-1/2" wheels on the front of their Vette? If you got'em,
what back spacing and tire size do you have? I know some of you are using the VB&P spacer/adapters with late model wheels. I don't know the back spacing of those wheels, so just the spacer thickness won't help me unless someone gives me the back spacing too.
Any problems? Regrets? Opinions (would wrather have facts)?

the forum member "Clutchdust" runs 17x9.5's all the way around for racing. He is using the adapters, but maybe when he gets this he can go out and measure the backspace and tell you the size of the spacer also.

I have pictures on my CF homepage with 9.5 fronts with 1 inch wheel adapters. My wheels are centerline with 5 inch bs. I can't remember the size of tire I had in those pictures, but it must be BFG comp TA Z-rated 255/45/17 or 275/40/17. My rears are 11 X 17 inch with 6.5 bs with 2 inch adapters. The rear tires are 315' Dunlops Z-rated. My next set will be 325/35/17

'92 vette wheel on my '72, 2.5 inch VBP adaptor all around....
275/50/17 Nitto in rear, fit fine...and 255/50/17 NItto in front...front has steering limited a bit though by adding to lower A arm snubbing blocks...about 5/8 inch buildup...
wheels net out at 4.5 inch offset front and rear.....of course the ebrake bracket if moved to behind the rotor in my case...

Re: Who's got 17" x 9-1/2" on the front? (vettery)
Thanks for the response guys!. Is anyone using 5" back spacing? I copied the info below from the corvettefaq page:
17" x 9-1/2" with 5" backspacing. I have Firestone SZ50 EP 285/40/ZR17s in all four corners which give an overall diameter of 26", an overall width of 11.5" and a tread width of 9.8". With these tires, the wheels fill the wheel well completely but do not stick out from the body in front or in the rear.
I don't know who posted this...but 285/40 on 17 x 9-12 with 5" backspacing on the front? Will that really workwithout spacers?

They will rub on the framr or the sway bar.....but still turn tighter radius than a C4....so not to worry too much....
(BTW) that's NOT me....I went from C4 stock size 274/40/17 to a 255/50/17 in front....275/50 in rear...Nitto all the way....

Re: Who's got 17" x 9-1/2" on the front? (vettery)
My conclusion: a) 255 is the widest tire you can run with 8" width and 4" backspacing. b) 255 is the widest tire you can run on a 9-1/2" width with a 4-1/2" backspacing c) Unless you want your front wheels in the parking spaces on either side of you, a 255 is the widest tire you can pratically run on front, so why bother with the 9-1/2 width (other than autocrossing)?

I read your conclusions. I run 305 tires but 15 inch on 8.5 inch rims, I run 265x50's on the front without a problem and can't see why you go to 5 inch or more backspacing only to add spacers to correct the problem.
