1975 corvette factory alarm
HOW DOES THE ALARM WORK?
HELLO EVERYONE I'VE JUST PURCHASED A '75 STINGRAY, AND I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THE FACTORY ALARM WORKED. I WOULD POST A PHOTO OF IT BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS TO ALL

Re: 1975 corvette factory alarm ('75sting)
my last vette was a 75, nvr got it to work... nvr tried either, but i noticed a huge horn inside the rear driver's side quarterpanel.... how the hell does it work??? (keyhole on driver's side fender) It's amazing how many people think that's for locking the hood.

The alarm is tied to plunger switches on the doors and hood. Set the alarm, then if the door or hood is opened it will sound. And keep sounding until it is turned off or the battery runs down. To test, just turn it on and open a door.

About 3 hours ago I bought a new lock assembly for my alarm. It was $48 for the keyed switch plus tax. With recent problems in our neighbourhood I have started using it but in a different way.

Mine doesnt work. When I turn the key on, the horn beeps.
The passenger side sensor is busted and thinks the door is open even when its shut.
I don't know if I woudl ever use it anyway so I pry won't ever fix it.

Re: 1975 corvette factory alarm (flood)
there are four switches for the alram system, two at the front of each door, one at the hood and one located on the alarm keyswitch itself , for the alarm to operate correctly the four switches when armed (turning the keyswitch 90 deg)need to be N.O.(normally open) when any of the switches close, the relay (under the right rear jack compartment)activates the horn. What I found on mine was that the switch connected to the keyswitch on the fender(same as the headlightswitch at the front headlight asssembly) was broken off causing the alarm always to be activated when trying to turn it on. if you disconnect the switch (black and white wire) it works.I beleive the purpose of this switch was in case someone yanked the keyswitch out of the fender the alarm would go off . I ordered a new switch from Corvette central. also make the black wire on the the hood switch is connected to ground.(connected to black wire on the wiper switch)
