They don't list Delcos, but I just checked their Website and, unless I'm looking at the wrong items, they show $62 for the front (# C138 & C139) & $53 for the rear (# C140 & C141). Unless you pull them out first, you have to add a $35 core charge to that.
Don't know how they came up with $162

I bought the 140 and 141 for $53 plus core. Can't beat that for a car that only sees around 1k miles a year.

I got mine at autozone also. Found that some of them were brand new in boxes that said "rebuilt". Guess they ran out of cores. I had to go to 3 autozones, but finally got 4 brand new calipers for the price of rebuilds. They've been on the car for 3 years now and have not had a single problem with them. Also have a lifetime warranty on them.

Ed T,
That's exactly why I don't go to Auto Zone for parts. I got mine at Advance Auto PA5622352 for my 81 front for $73.99.

Re: Auto Zone or Twighlight Zone, part 2 (Ed T)
funny you should mention autozone, i just had an odd experience there yesterday. I lost the wingnut to the air cleaner assembly on my 84 buick. I searched all over the house but couldnt even find a regular nut to fit it. So i was pretty mad i had to go out to buy a wing nut, it struck me as kind of ironic my entire car was basically disabled because of one wingnut.
I would of just went to a hardware store but they're all closed, the first two auto stores i went to were closed too, which brought me to autozone. I asked the lady there for a wingnut for the carb stud, she started asking what year and everything, so i just handed her the stud and just asked for whatever fits that. She gave me a look and sighed like i just asked her to wax my car.
I see her walking all over the store looking for something, then she comes back and says "i dont have anything that long"
I was kind of confused, "what do you mean that long"?
"i'll be honest with you, i just dont have anything thats long enough to fit on this". she replied.
By now i was staring at her like she was an alien. "whats long have to do with it....i need a wingnut"
Then she got really mad and snapped "I cant sell you what i dont have!"
So i just walked out, i wasnt really prepared to get in an argument over a wingnut. Oddly enough i went back there this morning for something else and sure enough i see the exact wingnut i wanted in the "help" section.
Then two weeks ago i went there to get a caliper rebuild kit. The guy looked it up on a computer and came back with a brake hardware kit, i told him thats not what im looking for i need the kit with the dust cover and the o-ring for the piston. He says "you're rebuilding the calipers right?" i said yes. "well this is it, this is what you need."
I tell him again that i need the o-ring kit. He then tells me that there's no such thing and you cant rebuild calipers like that, you just have to get a rebuilt one. I tell him i've done it several times before.
"well we just dont carry that sort of thing here".
I point out i've bought them from that exact same store before. he just looks at me like i'm a crazy street person and says "no...i dont think you did"
I asked to see his manager, and he informs me that he is the manager. so i ask him to get somone else to help me, a younger guy came out and looked it up and got it for me right away.
It's kind of ironic because i got turned down for a job at that same store because i didnt have the appropriate "customer service backround".

I paid $53 ea for the rears from AZ. They have new seals, dust boots, bleeder screws, bolts and O rings. I did like Zwede, and looked for the new castings.
It's just that some of their counter people aren't always up to snuff.
I always refer to them now as O-Zone....

Ed T,
I got mine from Auto Zone for $60.00 each and they were Delco, they have been on the vette for two years and no problems. Must be a mistake on their computer.

Exactly why I dont go to AZ for anything with a degree of difficulty greater than 1. I usually go to NAPA or Discount Auto for those. Matter of fact, I bought lifetime warranty rear calipers at Discount for around ~$60 each bout 7-8 months back. They're still goin strong.

I've never tried it, but after reading all of these posts, maybe next time I need a part from Advance Auto or AutoZone, I'll go to the Website, find the parts myself, put them in my online "basket", and have the order sent to the store nearest me (I believe that is an option on the Websites). Supposedly, your parts have been pulled and are waiting for you when you get there. That should help things go a little smoother, maybe, possibly, OK probably not :skep:

Lets face it..Expecting to find a knowledgable auto person at a AutoZone/Advance/Pep Boys store, is not unlike expecting to find a chef in the kitchen of a McDonalds......

I have had the "Twilight Zone" episode years ago. I just go to my local AC Delco distributor, they have been there forever, and the guys know cars. :)
