Default Test fitted the front skinnies today on my '68

They fit fine and drive fine.......... in a straight line.. but turning is an adventure.. There's no way that I would drive with those 220 miles to the drag strip...
I will have to mount them on the strip.... Well - I was planning to do that anyway...

Olivier,

Where are you going to put those tires/rims on the way to the track?

Yeah...Put the tires in the spare tire carrier, with a 'custom bracket' to hold them...

Get to the track, change your front tires... take off your spare tire carrier, and your good to go

Olivier,

They are small.. they easily fit behind the seats.....
I usually drive to the track without the passanger seat too... I have plenty of space..

Olivier, Have you weighed the stock seats? I'm just curious how much they weigh.

Haven't weighted them.. I actually don't have the stock seats anymore.. I currently use 80's style seats which are much ligher than the 68' seats... My guess is that the 80's style seats are half the weight of the '68 seats and the racing seats are half the weight of the 80's seats... but that's just a guess.. I will weight the seats when I will go racing again.. This will be in Fall or Winter...

Didn't make any pics... I just installed them, drove around for 10 minutes and put the regular rims back on after that... I will still try to polish them rims up a little more before making pics...

:seeya The trick to driving with skinnies is turns are taken at a lot slower speeds. :yesnod: :steering: I'm running 15"x4"s Weld Racing Rodlites.

I still wouldn't feel comfortable driving them on the street... I like the handling with my 255's all around on my street setup...

I have never driven with skinnies but I had heard they are just like you describe, good strait ahead but be careful when turning.

I was expecting them to handle worse than the 255's... but I didn't expect them to handle that bad
