New best mph at the dragstrip
I have been having a hard time getting a 13 second timeslip, even after installing headers. Lots of 14.0somethings... so I removed softtop, toolbag and trim rings to reduce weight, put on the K&N, replaced 74 jets with 73 to lean it out just a touch, tightened accelerator cable to remove all slack, and dropped in some 100 octane at the track. Then I ran 14.07 at 101 something, 14.107 at 102.26, and a traction-impaired 14.28 at 102.91 (60 ft = 2.428 = spinnnn!!!). But the car felt really strong, I think I was breaking the tires loose on the 1-2 shift. First round of eliminations I dialed in 13.99 and broke out with 13.847 @ 103.94. So I lost, but went home happy with a 13 sec timeslip (not best et ever) and a new best mph... "almost" 104!! When I started drag racing this car 2 years ago it was like, 14.8 @98 mph? :) MJ

Congrats! I've been hoping to get into the 13's too, but I guess I need to get into the engine. Best I've pulled is 14.25 @ 98.
It sucks to lose, but if you're going to break out, you might as well get a new best out of it.

Congrats! I know how you feel about dialing in a time and breaking out. My car was on a 12.3 dial in and I broke out to run a 12.14. So I know how happy you must be. While it kind of stinks to lose, you are proud to have finally broken into the 13s. Looks like you have made a lot of progress with your motor.

Damned if that adrenaline of eliminations can't make the runs(E.T.) faster. It happens! Congratulations on the 13.84!!!!!!!
