Default c3 seat swap and dropping the interior temp with side pipes

does anyone have any experience with swapping out seats with a comfortable cloth bucket in 76. I am trying to find a bucket i can bolt in. also, did anyone find that putting sidepipes on helped to lower the interior temp by redirecting the heat? i'm new to vette's, but am enjoying my first one

Welcome to the forum. Use the search feature and put in seat or seats. There was a lot of posts about putting racing seats, or C4 / C5 seats in the C3. You may have to search through the archived topics in C3 to find them all.

As far as side pipes, it probably will help with interior heat. The increase in interior noise may be a big issue. That and burning you legs on the sidepipes.

EDIT: That search feature sucks -- just look here ----> http://www.corvettefaq.com/listing.asp?group=4

It pretty much just moves the heat! Mine has the insulated frame rails that '69 factory sidepipe cars have, but it still transfers a bit of heat after a while, particularly around town. Worse is the heat that rises up the sides as you cruise with the top or windows down.

None of that matters, because they look and sound so great! I have burned my leg, but only once :yesnod:

Forget the cloth! Get some QUALITY sheepskin covers. They're warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I swear by them. If your existing seats are shot, use spray glue to mold the sheepskin covers to the old seats. Looks custom.
I'm upgrading to Recaros and they will have skins soon!

Deal with the heat by resealing all the penetrations and boots on your firewall and adding bubble foil insulation under the carpet.
This should be done whether you change to side pipes or not.
I've tried several seat replacement combos and the late C3 is the easiest swap. They are relatively easy to find, not too expensive, sit low so you don't bump your head and they are considerably lighter than your OE seats or C4 or C5 seats.
