17 inch Wheels

Re: 17 inch Wheels (78 Vette)
You shouldn't need a spacer for the TTII's. You can check out the American Racing website for a dealer in your area
http://www.americanracing.com/dealer...sp?section=dlr.
My wheels are closeto the TTII, they are Eagle Alloy 211, 17"x8". Cost me less than TTII's.

Yes, they will fit with out any spacers, just get ones with 4" back spacing and you'll be a happy camper. Here's a nice pace car with 17" TT IIs

I know it's not a shark but w/ everything being equal I didn't need spacers the AR TTII's 17x7 with 4" bs probably could have gone to 8" wide in the rear if I moved the PB bracket... I used 225/50/17 but I'm sure you can go wider on a shark...With no modifications to boot...Dave..

Re: 17 inch Wheels (SnoDrgn)
you can go to 9'' wide and not need spacers..
Anything bigger than that...you either have to have spacers or go with a offset on the wheels...which you really shouldn't do if you are planning on racing ,etc etc etc.

Groovyjay - Thats a sweet vette you got there.
As far as rim width goes, 68-82 all have an 11" wheel well. So you can go to a 10" wide rim. If you do go w/a 10" wide rim you have to relocate your PB bracket or fo to offset t-arms.

Re: 17 inch Wheels (78 Vette)
Some posted this awhile back.
Rim size 17x8 with 4" backspace. Tire size 255/50-17.
No fitment problems whatsoever. No spacers.
I think I will be going with that.

I would love to put 17" wheels on my car but the problem is...I love white raised letters on the tires. :( I've neve been able to find anyone that makes them that I like. I didn't think the sidewalls were that small that they couldn't do it if the wanted to. I'm pretty much stuck with the 15" wheels if I want WRL's :cry

Re: 17 inch Wheels (Boofers)
What is the ascept ratio on those 17"'ers? Do you still have the same turning radius (rubbing of the front tire)? They look great, really fill the wheel well nice.

Re: 17 inch Wheels (78 Vette)
The car in my sig has Crager S/S rims and they do need spacers. TTII's are a wheel similar in look and popularity, but they do not need spacers.
The difference is in the design of the wheel. The TTII has spokes that come out from the center to the edge of the rim so that it clears the brake calipers. The Crager S/S spokes, on the other hand, are flat and unable to clear the caliper without the use of a spacer. I think this holds true for any size of these rims with regard to Corvette fitment.
