help removing rocker channels
I have the body off to replace the body mounts and found some rust in the
rocker channels in both #3 mount areas. Are the Rivets the only things that
hold the channel to the body.I'd like to take them off then do the welding
I hate welding that close to fiberglass....thanks for any help or ideas!!

Re: help removing rocker channels (1RED1)
The rivets are in 2-3 spots along each side, then there is maybe 30-40 spot welds that hold the channels to the pillars on each side. If you have an AIM manual it shows the locations of the spot welds. Suggest you get the special drill bit that eastwood sells for drilling out the spot welds on the horizontal areas, then use a die grinder to get the ones on the sides. They are extremely difficult to remove, you also have the lap belt reinforcements welded in there (I fabricated new ones, again not very easy). Once the old channels are off drill enough holes in the new ones to pocket weld to the pillars. Installation is actually quite easy. I temporarily secured mine with a few tek screws until I had enough welds made, then removed the screws and welded those holes as well. :smash: :smash: :smash:

Re: help removing rocker channels (Big Fish)
Thanks Big Fish,I'm going to remove the whole panel where the insp.plate for
#3 mount is.I have to replace the mount inserts also hoping there enough
room to repair the channel also. Its just the end of the channel thats bad the
rest is ok,if theres not enough room to make the repair and do it safe then
I'll remove the channel....thanks again
