EGR valve - can it be removed? Follow up
For those who are interested.
Got the EGR off, plugged the holes, plugged the vacuum line at the carb. It was raining like a bat out of hell last night and this am, so I just got the old gal out at lunch for the drive back to work (about 10 miles of good "test" road in the country).
I will check the carb this evening, but wanted to run it as is just to see if any thing wierd came up. Not one sputter, knock, ping, nothing at all. Car ran great at low, medium, or high speeds.
I suspect that the EGR was not functioning anyway or at best didn't have much effect on performance.
In any event, if your considering removing yours, hammer down. :smash:

Might be a good idea to just check the A/F ratio for peace of mind. I've got an ole school bus converted into a bubba hunting camper that I removed the EGR on when it went out. No problems for the last 500 miles but IT IS NOT MY VETTE.

on my 86 pontiac, i only hook my egr valve up when testing for emissions. Its unkooked the rest of the time. Car runs much better without it.
