On my 1980 it is in the small tube from that runs down vertically next to Evaporator core box & Dryer. It has a nut fitting that I took apart and pulled out the orifice.

If you find it, let me know if it was "long" side of orifice down or "short" side down

I am pretty sure that the General used the VIR system from 73-76, and I know that my 73 does not have a orafice tube in the system.
I would assume that if your 76 has a VIR instead of seperate valves and a receiver/dryer you probably don't have a orafice tube.
Hopefully someone who knows that year better will chime in.
