I pulled it off....
I managed to fix my firewall. Because I couldn't get a new one here I decided to fix and mod mine. After a lot of hours grinding, sanding, laminating, filling and so on I now have this:
All metal inside was removed, powdercoated and reattached.
Here's the before (notice the nice bondo repair by someone else) http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/twinnie/body01.jpg

I think it looks pretty good for an amateur like me, I was a bit inspired by 69 myway's firewall :)

Nice. I like the clean lines after you removed all the 'hot air ducts'.
Next step : redo the floor boards with 'glass - you can do it.
Funny - you'ld think the firewall might be the last part of a vette to have
repairs - but mine did, too. Mine had a fiberglass patch on the inside - center.
It was done well. The only reason I noticed was that it was woven cloth, not
matte.
Keep up the good work !!

Nice work! Most people tend to leave their firewalls installed. :lolg: :lolg:

My firewall was damaged because of damage that was hidden, the pass. side front body mount was all wrinkled up, this is how it was.
as for modding, I also cut away a lot of misc. parts.
the pieces that extend over the front body mounts are gone, the sides of the "rail" for the wipers is gone on the sides, the side pieces on the front (that have the blower motor in it on the pass side and nothing on the other side), I removed the bonding strips and may install some sheetmetal over it. Also filled a bunch of holes for wiring harnesses, only have holes for pedals, fuse box, throttle cable and main engine/starter harness (apart from filling dozens of holes that were not supposed to be there).
And G, I'm not itchy anymore :) rubbing w/ an old panty/stockings and cold water really works very well!

Very impressive work. That panel was totaly beat. I can't believe all the cracks in it. Now it looks like new. Good job.

the before pics ARE my car, no junkyard and don't have a parts car, I DO have a car in parts :) (this one)
That's not all the damage, the rear comparmtments/battery box was all cracked too.
