Default recurve kit: 93 octane does the trick!

I had to retard the timing with the 87 octane I was running and still had some detonation at 4000+rpm, so I kept the rpm's down. As soon as I got the 93 in there I ran it hard to 5200 and heard no knock. I was even able to advance the timing 2 more degrees! What timing am I running? I THINK about 37-38 centrifgal advance by 3500, but I'm not sure that my balancer hasn't slipped. There is a little rubber showing from behind. I do get a vibration even in nuetral as I keep the rev's up, but I'm not sure if its the balancer or main bearings wearing.
We'll see how it does tomorrow at the 1/8 mile track. The car feels stronger but won't smoke the tires in a powerbrake. I rotated my tires last weekend and now whenI powerbrake I just slide the front tires. Hmm, well maybe I'll need all that traction :jester
