What's this 1980 Vette worth?
Just stumbled across a 1980 vette for sale. What does the consensus think she's worth?
1980 Corvette with 78,000 miles, number match.
L82 engine
power locks
power windows
glass roof panels
automatic
a/c works
aluminum wheels
new carpet
new seats
Faults:
it needs tranny seal, new rear glass, new tires.
has aftermarket radio.
rear spoiler has waves in it.
nees some cosmetic dashboard work.
need door panels.
car was silver, now has a fairly new 78 pacecar-like paintjob.
there's room for another in my garage for the right price.
thanks people!

Re: What's this 1980 Vette worth? (cor72vette)
Let me tell you about my 80'
I bought it last Monday for $10,000 CdN which currently converts somewhere in the $7,300.00 range American
It has two year old black paint that literally has like, three stone chips, no swirls, maybe about 2 small places where someone rubbed the clear coat a little and took the shine off...but I think I can polish that out.
It is an L48 Automatic car with Air conditioning, the T-tops on it are black w/good interiors, but not glass tops.
Somebody has unfortunately changed the rims, the ones on it are like, black w/ beauty rings & chev center cap (remember the 69 novas? that old style)...so, the rims will have to be considered a fault, even though they look good.
Mechanically the car is
Has dark blue interior, pw, ps, pl, pb, tilt, telescopic wheel, CD player (NOT A FAULT :flag ), good interior most of the way around.. 1 seat rip, non leather seats, I figure it needs about $200 worth of Mid-america interior parts to make it fresh again.

Numbers matching L-82 is a plus. If not for the "faults" I would say the value would be $9-10k. Deduct the faults and I say she is worth around $6k.

The lower the better. Restoration is expensive and it sounds like you will have plenty of that ahead -unless it has been done. To make it new plan on dropping in 10 to 15k depending on condition. My 80 started at $7500 ...another 10k in parts later and it is an awesome car. also I had a bodywork upgrade and paint job thanks to a fender bender that was someone elses fault.
You may have to do some brake work, suspension, ujoints, shocks, etc, etc...sometimes lots of little repairs. And the better you make it the easier it is to justify more upgrades. Big fun but expensive. SO get the base car as cheap as possible.... Try to get that under 7k at least ... although I have no idea if the matching numbers add much value. Maybe not so much on the 80, the L82 is the desirable model with higher Hp for that year (230 stock i think).

Yep, L48 was 190. L82 was 230.
L 82 was a fairly rare option in 80. Only 5,069 out of 40,614 were L82's. Only 5,726 80's were optioned with 4 speed manuals. NON of which were L82's supposedly.
