Lowering a C3's suspension
7/8/2003 @ 1 PM - EST
I need a little free advice ... I'm looking at a Ferrari replica based on a 1971 'vette. The car is beautiful in every way but one. The body sits fairly high, leaving large gaps between the top of the wheels and the wheel wells. The front needs to come down between 1.5" - 2", which will still allow some suspension travel without 'crashing' the fenders, while the rear needs to be lowered between 1" - 1.5".
1. How hard is this to do on a C3?
2. Can the stock suspension be easily altered to accomplish the drop or would it be best to replace parts?
3. Know of any shops in the greater Cincinnati area that can do this work?
Thanks for your help!

Changing the front springs can easily net a 2" drop if springs that naturally sit high are currently used.
The rear only needs the adjustment of a bolt to change, although if it's stock, a longer bolt might be necessary to get those extra inches you're looking for.
Just about any shop can do this, but they are very easy jobs if you do feel motivated to tackle them yourself.

One other quick question concerning this ...
Does adjusting the bolt in the rear suspension cause the exhaust to be lowered, or is that seperate? It looks lke the exhaust goes under the big leaf spring, but I don't know where/to what it is attached.
Thanks again!
