On my '71, my wipers and wiper door have been working great... until recently that is. When I shut my engine down, as the vacuum drains the wiper door opens (and stays open). This takes about 3-4 seconds after I shut the engine down. :skep:

Also, at WOT the wiper door opens, then closes as I back off the gas. Any ideas on the cause?

Might be the check valve. See the articles here on wiper door

Ahhh......the classic dirty wiper door solenoid. You need to take it apart and clean it. This will fix your problem.
