I have a 93 taurus for a winter car. I noticed the car was over heating. The water in the reservouir boils over after 20 minutes of driving. I checked the electric fan and it works fine, I changed the Thermostat and the water pump.
The car is still doing the same thing??? Please help! :confused:

Make sure the front spoiler under the car is in place if it's suppose to have one. I heard many stories about people knockng them off hitting parking curbs & having overheating problems afterwards ;) .

Also check your coolant & oil colors to make sure these look the way they should.

The front air intake is molded into the front plastic bumper. The fluids are fine.
When I get home today I'm going to check my radiator by removing the hoses and making sure there is a flow. :confused:

Make sure you are getting a good seal from your cap. The one in my Formula was not sealing properly and when I squeezed the upper hose I could hear the fluid going through the rad overflow tube. Switched it with the one on the vette for a test and the it ran cooler.

yea good idea to take the rad cap off and monitor the flow, you should see water flowing, only if its at or above running temp though (otherwise the thermostat is closed when cold). If you have checked the electric fan, and water pump, the only thing left (assuming you DO have enough fluid, would be the rad is clogged inside or out. Check if it's full of leaves or crap if its not, maybe it's time for a rad flush. I know using Muriatic Acid will eat any of that white corrosion, but I'd rather take it in get it done professionally.

I took the radiator out and I'm going to bring it down to get checked today.
I ran water from a hose and it seemed to flow fine :confused:
So far new; water pump, thermostat, radiator cap by tonight new radiator.

Another thing to look at is your cat, if it is plugged your car will run hot/overheat. There are a lot fo things that can make your car overheat that are not directly related to the cooling system: pluggd cat, timing retard (not adv enough), bad O2 sensor, etc. Def good to check the cooling sytem but also look for other causes that might not be cooling system related.

Update! It turned out to be the radiator. Although the radiator seemed fine by looking at it, the fins were detiriorating. The were so week that when I sprayed them with a hose to clean the radiator, the fins would smash and fall off. This caused the hot water passing through the radiator not to cool because the fins were not dispensing the heat like they shoud. I replaced it with a new one and it runs nice and cool now.
