Default 454 from a 86 Q..

I found a 454 from a -86 truck.Does anyone have any clue on whats inside?Crank, rods and so on..Its not a Fulie engine so it has a carb (rochester?) :cheers: :cheers:

without casting numbers its hard to know, but usually truck blocks, have a cast crank, 3/8" rods, two bolt mains and have a max overbore of around .070. Heads should also be of the small oval port design. Like I said tough to know without the casting numbers, but should be close to this. If you can get the casting number you can find out exactly what you have here http://www.mortec.com/

I got my 454 from an '87 Suburban with TPI but the internals are probably sinilar to the '86's. It turned out to be exactly as Swisher described. I'm only using the block & connecting rods, everything else is aftermarket. Mine turned out to be a 4 bolt though. :hurray:

I thought all truck engines were 4-bolts. If it is a 2-bolt, as long as you keep the revs down and the hp under 500-550, you will be ok.
