Power Windows Quit - Help!
Hi All -
Does anyone have a good schematic of how the power windows are wired on a '69? Mine just quit wprking yesterday. The diagram that I have found doesn't have any details. If I run power to the motors I can make them go up and down. So, the motors are good. Seems I am either missing power or Ground common to both motors. I just can't seem to find where the power comes from or where the ground is. Anybody have a clue???
Somebody out there has to know.....
Chuck

I have a '72, but there is a circuit breaker on the engine side of the fire wall on passenger side. If you don't get some more help, I will check it out and get back to you tonight. :seeya

Yep, I think I found the circuit breaker and it has power. Upper firewall next to power brake unit?
Thanks,
Chuck

Did you check the relay? Power cannot get to the swithces unless the relay for the power windows has been activated (by turning on your ignition). I had the same problem a few weeks ago, and all I had to do was clean the connections to the relay. The relay is usually under the console on the drivers side.

The relay that connects to the window switch sometimes goes bad a meltdown can occur around the contacts. Try cleaning them up and see if that helps.

Mine is on the Passenger side. It shows a 12 ga orange wire to the relay(under the center console I think). Then the power leaves the relay as a 12 ga red and white to a splice point and splits to feed both switches( one side red and white and the other brown 12 ga wires).
Good luck
Ps: Just e-mailed you a copy of my '72's diagram

Yep, If I bypass the relay in the console, the windows work just fine. I haven't had a chance to checkout the relay yet to see if there is power to actuate it from the ignition. I have had some flakey stuff happening with the ignition switch for quite some time, I think maybe it may be the problem. I'll check out the switch tomorrow, it's getting late.
Henry, thanks again for the wiring diagram. It saved me a ton of time.
