Default rearend

hey boys whats up?? I Am redoing teh rear end, replaced u-joints new offset trailing arms, bushing the whole 9. i was wondering what different things you guys did to the rear. I was also wondering what should be painted what color, as of now i did them all black, but i dont like the way it looks like that. silver half shafts adn rear?? what color is that? any special paint? pots pics please!!

Are your halfshafts straight like that all the time :confused: ? My halfshafts have a good bit more of a slant to them than that. I remember hearing that your halfshafts shouldn't be straight like that. Something about whenever it squats the halfshafts go over center. I'm just curious.

We use a cast iron color paint like whats on Gordonms'.


Also Bence your right they shouldn't be straight. They should be slanted

I like the cast iron I think i am going to go with that, can i get the color at pepboys? or should i buy the ecklers paint? How do we combat this problem of the halfshafts? it it ride hight or a bad spring? i bought a new springand it still sits like this.

Hmmm, yes they are always like that. I thought you wanted to have your halfshafts level to the ground. I never heard of them being recommended slanted, I'll think I'll post a new topic now that you have me curious too :confused: .

Halfshafts should be slightly angled down on the outside or level (when the car is loaded) halfshafts when loaded should not be angled above horizontal.

hey take notice of the pictures too, the car wherethe half shafts that are on an angle is up on jack stands, and the ones that are level is sitting on the ground! id like to see what godomns car looks like off jack stands

That color & type of paint goes by many names & mfrs .... cast blast, new cast, etc & should be available in auto parts stores. Eastwood's is spray grey:
