Solid cam break-in: Any last minute advice?
I was told by a couple people to remove the inner springs? Is it a 'Must Do" step? My dad has broken in probably 500 cams over the years and never wiped out a cam lobe because of spring pressure. Any last minute advice, I plan to bust her off sometime at the end of this week.

Set your valve lash cold as follows; If you are using aluminum heads, set your lash about .003 tighter than hot lash spec. For steel heads set the valve lash about .002 looser than hot lash spec. That should get your lash correct for a hot engine.

Last minute advice?? Cross you fingers and say 2 Hail Mary's the night before! :D I wasn't planning on removing the inner springs. Heck, If i wanted to remove them, I wouldn't have bought the heads assembled.
Good Luck, I'll be listenening for the sound of thunder from the south. ;)

I did remove the inner springs but it probably is not needed. I actually drove the car after break in for about 10 miles just to let everything settle in. Then reinstalled the springs and let it fly. You should be OK with both springs installed

It's the Comp Cam 294S 294/294 (248/248 @ .050) and .595/.595 lift and 110 LSA.
I'm running G.M. Iron rectangle port heads 118cc, 325CFM, and 2.19/1.88 valves.
