Default Vacuum and AC vents ..Question..

I was wondering if I am having a vacuum problem. With the AC on, if I am cruising say 65 or 75, and try to accelerate any at all, the vents quickly shut down, and the cold air blasts my feet.
I know this is supposed to do this, but even the slightest pedal pressure causes this to happen. I thought it would have enough vacuum reserve to hold the dash vents open for the first 5 or 10 seconds.

I didn't really know it was suppose to do this, but I just went through my whole vacuum system myeself. There is no reserve on that system only direct manifold vacuum. I will be interested to hear from someone who knows about this also.

A friend on mine has a 82... there IS a vacuum reserviour. He had to replace it. It looks like coffee can. His developed a leak that gave him the same symtoms you described. He made one out of a coffee can.

I don't know if you have one but the early cars have a check valve in the main line to the vacuum canister so the lights won't start to come up and back down when you shut the engine off. You've seen cars do that I am sure.

I'll look for one of those to, my headlights quit wroking (both failed at the same time) a few months ago. Could have been a sign of things going wrong....

Thanks, I will try to get a look at them today...
