I just installed and remove a set of 460 this weekend and the wire diameter was .650. The number of coils I think was 7.5. I have the free length written in a file folder in the shop. I try to keep records of everything I buy.

Matt if your 550's are .715 and my 460's are .650 there goes the theory that 550's are just 460's with one coil removed.
My 460 actually measured the same as the morosso soft 280 pounders. The morosso while everything was the same had an extra 3 coils and free length about 3 inches longer.

Just went down to the shop. The 460 are .650 wire, 5 1/4 inch diameter, 7 complete coils and 13 inches free length.
I will run them through the spring checker tomorrow to see if they are really 460 pound per inch.

550s are 12.25" tall, 460s are 13.5" tall.

Re: VBP front coil specs please (Pacin'California)
I ran my 460 springs through the spring checker this morning and it showed 450 pounds per inch. So the springs are right.
MY car does not seem to sit high but when I lost 1.5 inches because of the 460 springs my car was almost lying on the road. I couldn't imagine 550 springs that are another 1 lower.
I would have to avoil all driveways, speed bumps, man hole covers, turtles crossing the road, Maybe even snails :)
I will keep my morosso springs with 27.375 to the fender lip.

I forget what your you have Norval, but I just left off that extra black plastic front lower spoiler, don't look as good, but in fact, it's hard to tell, unless you know it's supposed to be there, no point in scraping it all over the ground...
if you have one of those later sharks with that lo chin scraping spoiler/air damn....well I dunno, I"d have to think of something....

Gene you forgot what I drive? :mad How many blown big blocks do you run into in this forum?
The black plastic spoiler does more then just look good , it deflects air from under the car and up through the rad.
I had mine off for a few days and noticed a sharp increase in running temperature.
Here is a picture to remind you what I drive.
