Yousa the Summer is here!
Yesterday I got to fight the worst traffic jams of the YEAR with the tops off the Vette in 90 degree heat :mad :smash: Took me two and a half hours to get home on a drive that is usually 30 to 40 minutes.
The stroker ran 200 to 205 in traffic and I'm wondering how warm she'd have been if I had connected that A/C when I put the motor in. The radiator is a new high-fin-count unit from a local shop using a Modine core. In regular driving it runs 190 but even when I got finally rolling at normal speeds yesterday It never cooled down below 200. Now, I know that's not hot - so don't misunderstand me - but I'm thinking that if and when I do get off my **** and fix the A/C, that may put her up to 215-220 ... which is a bit on the hot side for my liking. I'm using the OEM fan and clutch (and yes the clutch is good-still grabs a WHOLE lot of air) but after yesterday I'm rethinking this.
Any takers on this ???? I have indeed verified the accuracy of the temp gauge a few times using a Snap-On radar gun. The thermostat housing and the radiator core both show to be within a very few degrees of what the dash gauge shows so I do indeed trust what it is telling me.

Yeah, we were at 90 degrees yesterday morning at 7am.... :mad
I have driven my CE in 115degrees and will do it again tomorrow, to get to the show. I see up to 220 with the AC on, and oil temps just below 250. I just stay out of the pedal and keep good oil in it. Those temps shouldn't hurt anything, I see them towing my 5th wheel too.

Actually, I've been tempted this Summer to install the OEM air cleaner assy with the snorkels ... and hope it does not cut down airflow too much. What I lose in airflow may be enhanced by the cooler air.

You will see a nice benefit to cooler air, I can't run my open element K&N on my truck during the summer... Way to hot under the hood....

Ok! Home from the show, I drove to Phoenix at 2 pm. the outside temp as probably about 114, the vette ran around 210 (thats were the aux. fan kicks in), and oil temp was between 240 and 250 depending on if I got on it or not.
Didn't get to many chances to idle in traffic but when I did the oil started to cool off, (230) and the water stayed about the same.
