Bought mine from SUMMIT a few years ago. Had them mounted locally for $20 bucks and haven't been happier.

$267.80 was the price I gave on 4/27/01. This was shipping and everything. Hope this helps.

I like this review of the tire.......
After all the burnouts, there is still some tread left, on the road that is. Leaves a nice patch, with uniform darkness throughout the width of the slab. Smoke billows nicely, with a blueish to white hue. Sidewalls tend to buckle during donuts, but have not experienced any blowouts or tread separation as of yet. As far as road noise goes, there is some typical shrieking during holeshot launches, which fades to a "shhhhhh" or "zzzzzzz" during deliberate burnouts. 1972 Olds Cutlass Convertible This model was manually input by the user.

Hi Alwyn :seeya
Before you buy the BFG's see if you can attract the attention of Gator81. He's changed from BFGs to Pirelli <somethingorothers> & is really impressed with them. I'm not slagging off the BFG's (I've got them myself), but his impression of the Pirelli's is worth listening to. The tread pattern looks weird on a C3, BUT the cornering ability is vastly improved & his description of the ride quality was that it was like somebody had wrapped velvet around his old tires.

Mine cost me about $400 last year.
That's with free rotation and rebalancing.

Unfortunately if I buy there there is not free rotation and balance and none of the chains want to mount someone else's tire :nono:

I got mine at tire rack as well, around $70 per tire. And around here, many tire places will take what ever business they can get, even if it is only a mount and balance.

Got mine from discount tire here in town, they were $92 per tire installed and balanced, $368 plus tax.

I was just looking on Tire Rack and they have Kumho Ecsta in 255/60/15 and they are H speed rated. I have Kumhos on my daily driver and they're great. Wear like iron and hold well in wet or dry. The Ecstas are also directional treads so they look cool. I read the reviews and they are all very positive. For $79 a tire I don't think you can go wrong. I always worry about putting S rated tires on these cars and it's nice to see a tire with a higher rating. Here's a link http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=Ecsta+STX

Before I bought my Yokohamas, I checked with Costco http://www.costco.com about special ordering the BFGs. The quoted price was $74/tire, including mounting/balancing. That's a pretty good deal.

Hi Alwyn,
Yes, the high wear rate is what's put me off Pirelli in the past. Friends bikes used to wear out rear Phantoms within 3000miles (one lunatic never got past 2000!), whereas my Dunlop TT100's would give 8000miles minimum. But the grip on the Phantoms was incredible, which is why I'm considering changing to Pirellis when I wear out my BFG's. I hope Gator doesn't mind me quoting him, but here's what he said about his new Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires:
"The big surprise is the smoothness. It's like I took the old tires and put
a 1-inch thick piece of velvet around them. No kidding. That's amazing,
considering that these are 6-ply tires being compared to the older 4-ply
tires. I really expected them to ride like really hard, stiff tires, but I
thought I could put up with it in exchange for the improved cornering. But
this is the best of both - smooth ride, no noise at all, and the cornering
is truly amazing.
I went out and pulled a few on/off ramps last night. One of my favorites
is almost a complete circle, where I could probably hit 45 or 50 mph on the
old tires with the old suspension before one of the rear tires would start
to squeal and come loose. With the new suspension, and still the old BFG
tires, I could hit maybe 60 before the rear would get a little skittish.
Last night, I took that loop at 75 mph, and never heard a chirp from the
tires! I really don't know how fast this car could pull that loop now - I
was still accelerating past 75 when I exited the loop."
The downside is that they don't look anywhere near as good as the BFG's &, as you said, the wear rate is probably high. The way I'm looking at it is that tires with stiffer sidewalls would improve the handling in the same way that 17" rims with low profile tires would (not as significantly, but it would be better than stock for a lot less $'s!). Guess I'll have to wear out my BFG's & give the Pirellis a try. Now, how do I wear out my BFG's quickly? Oh yeah.... more power!!!! :D

Hello Al,
Whats up! Hey, have you considered Goodyear tires? I have just had a set of Eagle GA radials put on and I love the ride. (P235/65R15) with Cragar wheels. I went with them because I was afraid of rubbing on the fronts. My worn 225/70's rubbed. The Cragar's had to be shimmed, the 255's would had stuck out of the wheel wells a bit. The 235's seemed like a good compromise. I would have prefered 245/60 but Goodyear no longer makes that size.
I wish the had the solid white letters though, the GA's only come with white outlined letters. The GT II's come in solid raised white letters but they don't come in 235/65

I usually buy them at BJ Wholesale (similar to Costco). If you're getting them
for around $100 each - installed - lifetime rotate and balance, then you're doing OK.
Go with the vendor that you trust to be there in a year or two.
Do you think you can make 'em last a whole year ?
