Traitor?? It appears one of us might be soon...
And that would be me! :yesnod:
I've been looking at one of the new concept cars for 2005 and decided to shoot an e-mail off to one of the dealerships in my area to see if I could pre-order one. Having not bought a new car since 1986 I didn't have a clue if you could actually order a car that was not in production yet, but amazingly enough the answer was *Yes*! I'm not sure what I can get for options, but I want the "zoom" model if it can be worked out. I guess we will see as I will be meeting with the dealership.
And what would that concept car be?
Prepare for the ultimate *traitor*.....
I want this first year when it comes out.... so much for a C-5. But, maybe a C-3 in one side of the garage and this on the other side. If things go right I will probably keep the C-3 after all.
Taaaddaaaa!!!!!

It is a sweet car. I personally will not buy a new design/style/model in the first year or two (definitely the first). Too many potential bugs that tend to get worked out later. Someone has to 'beta' test them.

My wife really likes the new mustang. Hopefully I will be able to talk her into one when the time comes. Its either that or a Ying Yang.

I've always thought the same way... let someone go through the headaches and then buy when the concept becomes reliable. But.... I'm going on 50 and my plans were to put a new(or fairly new) cool car in the garage in the next year and I've been hooked on the 60's design ever since I saw this new tang. Odds are they will not let me Viper it... no AC... no frills... just motor!!
But.... I will ask.

I agree on the design. There are a few specific years that the 'stangs had 'killer looks'. This new one is one of the few modern interpretations of a classic that floats my boat and I wouldn't mind one either.
I guess once desire/emotion gets involved, priorities change. I do think, however, that some of these classic concept cars are probably better tested than the run of the mill daily drivers. The likelihood is minor issues and the creature comforts that come later will be the early problems. Either way, I do think, based on what i sense from your post, that you will be happy regardless.

That's a sharp looking car. :yesnod: No doubt about it. Ultimate traitor? Nah... At least it's still a V8 isn't it?
Ultimate traitor would be honda civic with 4 foot triple wing and fart-can exhaust. You do that and we'll have to kill you.

isn't this new mustang suposed to have 500 horses? I don't like the late Mustangs because they try to pass them off as fast cars and only have as much power as the next ford Taurus (at least the V-6 versions) If you are goign to make a fast car they need to ALL be fast cars. not jsut a select few that people pay to be fast. I see so many late mustangs it seems everybody and their mother owns one.

I work for "the blue oval" and although I didn't work on that program, some of my friends did. I've been to the Pilot plant where they were building the prototypes within the last month or so. All that I can say is.... they look very nice. Don't forget that picture was the concept car. The production version may be different. I don't know if they've officially announced where they're going to build it. I'll leave it at that.

That is one very cool looking vehicle. I would love one myself, still good 'ol American muscle with electronics to help out. I wonder if this will be like the Thunderbird, a short run with this classic design.

Definitely a hot car! I don't think you're a traitor, you still have your C3, and I think a lot of people in this forum can appreciate the "classic" look of the Mustang, what ever final form that will be. Cograts and good luck. Pat

Thanks for bringing up that fact... that it is a concept. I have no plans on laying any unrefundable money down until I see what I am buying. Ford is just screwing themselves if they do not take this concept and put it into production as many(including myself) will hate them forever if they can't realize that this retro-late 60's of the fastback GT stang(Shelby) is the tip of their future. The T-Bird was a complete flop because the design engineers forgot what enthusiasts are looking for. Since when did a real sports car have the cushioning ride of a Lincoln. That's what I saw when I got behind one of those cars. And they screwed up the looks. It deserves to go away. This one does not unless FORD is destined to be stupid.
Are they stupid? I will be the first to tell the dealership people if so. What do I have to lose?.... I buy a new car every 18 years. I go right back to C-5 if they fukk it up.

The original T-bird was a boulevard cruiser. It was the bean counters that made the new car what it was, not design. Don't worry too much about the new Stang... it's going to be good.
Korea or Mexico..... I think not.

yea..I heard the concept car had a chopped top, lowerd, and 18s on it. YOu can bet the production won't come like that. Good luck and make sure you can get your money back when actual car shows up in case you don't like it.
