Default Opinion of Ecklers

I was wondering what experiences people have had with Ecklers, bad or good. I ordered some stuff on Saturday 6/14 on-line. The following Thursday I e-mailed them and got an e-mail back, apologizing for the delay and stating that my order would ship the following day. I never received a shipping confirmation, and I have no tracking #, etc. Is this typical? I have never had a problem with Mid America, Paragon or any of the other catalog companies. :(

I have had very good service from them. They will match any of their competitor's price if you show them an ad and the quality is excellent.. The one thing they could improve on is.. when you order, if one or two items are Back ordered they will send everthing else and that's when you find out that some item(s) wer back ordered. So you wait four or five days for the parts and THEN have to wait another few days for another vendor to send you the rest of the parts you need. We do not all have the luxury to wait that long.. Call on the phone to varify all of the items an in stock.

Overpriced in my opinion (The Last Detail) is cheaper on most items

I'm with bluevette on the backorder stuff. sometimes seem to slack a little there but they've always given me good service overall and willing to do whatever you want with back-ordered items.

Thanks to all who replied. Hopefully I will get my order by the end of this week. Then their delay in shipping will only have set me back 1 week.

I find them to be one of the most expensive vendors and the few times I have called them I was not satisfied with their sales people.

I have used them in the past and always had good service and prompt shipping from them. But I haven't ordered anything recently.

You will hear all sorts of vendor bashing here on the Forum. Of course, you only get one side of the story. Very often, a little digging shows the whole truth was somehow not disclosed. Go figger.

I've been buying parts from Eckler's for years and by and large, I'm very happy with the level of service I've received, especially over the last few years. They've tried very hard to improve their service and for those willing to notice, it shows. Some folks complain about their having high prices. My experience shows them to be quite competitive and when they are not, they have a low price guarantee that works (I know, I've used it). Others complain about high shipping prices but they seem to be about the same as other large suppliers. The very few times I've ever had a problem, they've been prompt about correcting it or doing whatever necessary to make me happy. Of course, I've treated THEM with a modicum of respect, too.

I like their huge selection, I like how they support charitable events and Corvette clubs, I like their TV Show (Corvette, the American Dream), I like the Corvette Challenge series they sponsor, and overall, how they support this hobby of ours. Are they perfect? Far from it. But worth a shot? You betcha. We are a lot better off with them than without them. :smash:

I've been buying from Ecklers since the '80s when I was working at KSC. I've never had a bad experience with them.

Never had any problem with them. But they are, or was, one of the more expensive vendors. They were at Bloomington Gold this year giving out catalogs and a 10% off coupon. But if you placed the order there at the show you got the 10% off and free shipping. Hard to beat. I was looking for a trim piece for a C4. MidAmerica had it for $49 and the two side pieces were also $49 each. An on site vendor had the rear trim piece for $65. But Ecklers had it for $47 and the side pieces for $29. So the bottom line is that you just have to compare.

By the way, other have mentioned The Last Detail. I use them for all my GM/Delco parts. Great prices and good service. :)

As the Newbie, can anyone recommend some good companies to deal with for parts/accessories? I have my Eckler's catalogue already, but I'm not sure what else I should have!

Right now I don't *need* anything, but I'm getting such a kick looking through the catalogues and magazines that I want all I can get my hands on! If anyone has good websites or phone numbers where I could get catalogues it would be much appreciated!

Update: I just received the remainder of my order (placed on 6/17) today. Now I can get back to working on my car. I am not sure yet but it looks like Eckler's knocked part of the shipping off of my bill for my inconvenience. I will heed the advice to call them next time to make sure that they have the parts in stock.....
