Default Installing O2 sensor on carbureted car? Has anyone here done it?

I'd like to better tune my car, and I'd like to know if my air to fuel ratio is right. Have any of you installed an O2 sensor to accomplish this? Was it hard? Was it worth it? What O2 sensor did you use?

I was also considering this:

and this:

Is there a better way?

Thanks.

I drilled & welded in an adapter into the passenger side of the headers where they join ito one.

I used a generic Bosch sensor and a LED bargraph display for a/f ratio....I could get the brand of the display for you.

The unit has been very useful diagnosing a lean condition at WOT.

Best regards,
Joe

I bought an edelbrock rich lean indicator and it came with a 4 wire oxygen sensor. I welded the bung just after the collector flange in the exhaust pipe. I drilled a roughly 3/4 inch hole with a prentice drill and welded the bung in. Any muffler shop would be able to do this. I think it is a great tuning tool and I worked until my cruise mixture was 15-1 and run under a little load 13-1.

Edlebrock unit comes with light indicators that should be easy to read. Gauge type look hard to read and accuracy suspect due to very steep curve near stoichiometric ratio (14.7). I'm setting up to run two Edlebrock units - one in each collector. :yesnod: If you really have the need you can install a sensor in each header tube near exhaust port - tuners heaven.
