Help: AmTops Vinyl Tops Revisited
I just became the owner of a set of Amtops Vinyl Tops that are setup for 78-82 cars with the straight bullet type pins, unfortunately these will not fit my 74 and they DID NOT come with the second set of TRIANGULAR ENDS needed to convert the tops to fit 68-77 cars. Does anyone have a set of triangular ends that they would be willing to part with or possibly know of somebody who does and would ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Why not just convert the pillar connect brackets to 1978-82? BTW, congrats. You have just acquired a very rare item!

Thanks for your suggestion, it's something to keep in mind. I would still like to use my original tops in the spring and fall. I would take the Amtops with me on that summer day when there would be hopefully no rain, but it would be nice to get out of the sun if needed, constantly changing the pillar brackets could be kind of a pain.

I have the same tops for my '72. I just unscrew the triangular pins from the body and the pins from the tops fit right into the screw holes. I can remove the triangular pins by hand and it only takes maybe a minute to convert it.

I made the triangle pieces from 16 gage metal and , i believe 1/4 rod. It took about 4 hours to make them.

Thanks Greg, you're right pin comes out easily
Roger, another great idea, unless I can find a set of triangular pins, it's probably the way I'll go.
Anyway, thanks guys
