Default Heat Riser actuator removal

Alright, mine is apparently broken and I want to remove it. Can I just remove the hose the goes from the actuator to the thermostat sensor (I think that is what is it is). Do I have to plug up where the hose connected to with anything?

Thanks!

I would remove the thermal vacuum switch (TVS) from the t-stat housing and plug the hole. The housing on the right has provision for two TVSs. One of the openings is occupied by a threaded blind plug. The larger hole for the EFE/TVS opening is larger but the same principle applies. Cost? Less than $2.00 at GM or a local auto parts store.

You will need to do something to assure the heat riser remains open or remove it entirely. Removal will require a spacer/adapter to allow the crossover pipe to bolt up the same, or you could possibly cut the valve disc out somehow.
